Stripped of paint, no, that is the original satin gunmetal finish.
Replacement check spring, yes, doubtful a paper clip, but maybe yes if it is from same era as reel.

#4It is in the shape(ish) of a paperclip, but too industrial strength in gauge to these old eyes.
