One of the best threads i've seen on this site... thank you for sharing this amazing work.

while we're voting on your next project, let me be the first to request the 2 3/4" wide drum... nice trout size with ample room for backing/line... i think the metal line guard would be nice on a reel like that as well...

also, I have no idea if you can do it but i'd LOVE to hear an audio file of this reel....

Thank you Chris for taking us through the process to make a fine bench-made reel, I also like how you have your priorities arranged for the younger family member.  I've enjoyed this thread immensely also.

How could you even ask a question like thatImage? For someone like me this is about as enjoyable and as informative as it gets. Most of us know full well how rods are made(especially those of us who make rods). Reels, not so much. Thanks for sharing all this with us!!!!Image

Chris, I've really enjoyed this thread, thanks so much for sharing your craftsmanship and artistry with us. It is a wonderful thing to be able to make, with your own hands, an object both wholly functional and thoroughly beautiful. I doff my hat and bow deeply.

All the best,

Kenneth

Superb!!!! Thanks for spending the time to show what it takes to create a fine reel. I know I am spoiled when all I have to do to own one is to place the highest bid.

Is it an agate, or is it agatine?  The color looks really uniform, and a bit too transparent to be agate.
