#2Gorgeous fly! I've always enjoyed reading Ray's stories and have had a chance to fish a number of places he described in his book "Trout."

#3Keep them coming, I love these classics.
Silver doctor or one of its variations, works everywhere I've tried it.

#4Yep. I've done reduced versions, trout sized. Definitely something about them that works.roycestearns wrote:Keep them coming, I love these classics.

I'm thinking the blue hackle.
OP, nicely done.

#5Funny how we decide what works. I've attributed the success to the silver body and bits of red.

#7Classic! I'm inspired!
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

#8Is this fly a variation of the Silver Doctor or something else altogether?upstate wrote: ↑12/07/19 16:33free fast picture hosting
the Silver Doctor tied trout size on a Mustad 94840 size 8 dry fly hook.
The colors on top are almost reversed, no red head, no red butt, and a different color tail. This fly came out of a pre-teen Wheatley box and although the fly has an eye, it has a silk gut connector. Just wondering if it has a name and sorry to the OP for highjacking of your thread.
