March Brown salmon-sized wet

A place to discuss the collecting and tying of classic flies, the tyers who made them famous, the tools, materials and techniques they used as well as the waters they were designed for. While classic is generally used to describe old things, classic is also used in the sense of first class or in the highest form. Therefore a fully dressed Salmon Fly, or a Carrie Stevens Streamer are just as much classics as a Chernobyl Ant would be. Enjoy the forum.

Just thinking, for the photos Gary, possibly less (blurry) of the fly-tying desk clutter (in the background) would enable us to enjoy your fly patterns further..

Sometimes I just like the cluttered background. Perhaps you will like this better:

Clutter, what clutter ? You should see my fly tying area (er, on second thought, DON'T!)

LOL, and Bob, I just kind of pushed some stuff out of the way to try and find an open spot!

Love the March brown. I may have to tie some up for Deschutes steelhead!

Very nice, thanks for sharing! There is a tradition in Finland when it comes to tying flies for big brown trout on salmon hooks. I have seen a number of such flies from rivers Huopana and Kalkkistenkoski in Finland, including local patterns such as the beautiful Kalkkisten Vaalea (and I have tied them and tried on our Swedish brown trout as well). Perhaps some of our members from Finland can enlighten us further here?

Best,
Martin
