Re: Welcome to the New Forum
#61It all looks good and I'm certain that it took a huge effort. I'm curious though, why the migration? Are there problems with Yuku?
Losing the great profile seems to be the only down side--I spent serious time populating mine with Orvis stuff and photos.
Is there a spell checker that I'm missing?
Thanks...

#63Well done on the changeover! I've developed a few phpBB templates and this template really captures the look and feel of the original board.
Cheers,

#64What did our recent contribution of money to prevent advertising on the old site do to help us here?
Re: Welcome to the New Forum
#65Like Greg, I can't find a spell checker, which I need badly. Wouldn't want youse guys to find out how dumb I really am.

#66Not sure if I'm not doing something correctly, but Yuku does not recognize my user name or password, and I cannot log in, is there a trick or are all my PMs now gone???

Re: Welcome to the New Forum
#67Greg, Yuku has been sold three times - the numbers I saw quoted $11M the first time, $600k the most recent time. Yuku could pull the plug and the entire forum archives would be lost.Greg Reynolds wrote:It all looks good and I'm certain that it took a huge effort. I'm curious though, why the migration? When we moved FFR for this reason, they locked us out of paid-up forum usage as soon as they possibly could.
There are a lot of things I like about yuku, including their fancy profile pages and excellent search engine. But losing the archives of this forum would be shame.

#69If you have Firefox, hold down the ctrl key and use the minus key to reduce the size of the text. Ctrl with the plus key increases the text size.pmag wrote:The letters are too fat! Why not have them diet?

#71If you use Internet Explorer just select "Tools" and then click on "ie Spell".mac7x wrote:Like Greg, I can't find a spell checker, which I need badly. Wouldn't want youse guys to find out how dumb I really am.
I'd imagine there are ways to do it in other browsers as well.

#72This is great, one of the big negatives with yuku was the fact it took forever for us still on dialup, this is megga fast in comparision.

#76Oh, there have been a few!SWhitman wrote:Just a quick thank you to all involved in this massive undertaking. It appears like its has been pulled off without a hitch. Amazing
I've just dealt with them very quickly and hoped no-one noticed! LOL
Something struck me earlier today. You guys have been great! I cannot begin to estimate the number of log-ins issued. Almost every single one of you has been very polite and courteous. (I'm not counting 'to the point', that suits me just fine right now.) I mean 99.8% of you!
Out of that, about only 5% had difficulties and needed a little extra assistance. Now that is to be expected but what is unexpected is just how low a percentage that is. Even 10% could be acceptable.
I want to thank you all for making the job easier.
(Just don't say thanks by email. Post it here please. )
**added: There is quite a high number of people who can only use dial-up for access. You may just not have come across many of them on your last host. (Funny comment though! LOL )

#77Is it just me or is the "last post" section of the board not changeing with each new post?

Re: Welcome to the New Forum
#78There is a case where that would happen but the scenario is not present on this board.
Just for the record, it is updating for me.
Anyone else see this?
