Use this forum for Q&A of a technical nature, i.e., PC, cache, screen related problems, picture resizing, avatars and the like. We will also post facts here for you and instructions of a how-to nature which should make things more fun for you by eliminating some of the frustration with posting photos, etc. Thanks.

This has been a new problem for the
past week and a half. Nothing remedies
it. So if this post makes it, it will apparently
be my last. Thanks for the ride.

BHB,
Go to Microsoft.com
and download the Antispyware Defender, it works really well.
There are other things that may need to be done as well, but start there. If all else fails let me know and I'll snail mail you a CD with a bunch of utilities

Sante, Pete,

Thanks for the encouragement and good
advice. We've decided our old PC (old
at least in electronic years) needs replacing
and will be getting another up in running
within a week or two. I'm hoping that the
gremlins don't cut my gratitude off even on
my own thread. Here goes.

BHB,
When you get the new machine, protect it first then go surfing.
Not sure who your ISP is, most of the cable and DSL folks offer some kind of free protection, my Comcast offers a line up of McAfee products that's been doing well at home so far.
It's a sad we have to go to such lengths to protect a freaking computer to keep it usable.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance down the road.

Pete,

By dumb luck and sheer grit, I think I've got the
problem under control. At least my latest
attempts to post have worked. We are nevertheless
getting a new PC. We had planned to anyway,
and this has just hastened the matter.

This glitch gave me a real start, but it also showed
me how important the forum and the guys on it are
to me. Thanks.

Great deals on Dells right now with free shipping last time I checked. I picked up a laptop for 460 shipped. Their desktops were also priced to sell. Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but loads fast and surfs the web fine.

We had our new PC installed this afternoon.
Its speed, ease, and slaying of gremlins
make it a real joy. I nearly used an emoticon
for emphasis. But even in my giddiness, I want
to maintain principle.

That's good news Bill. Every now and then, science can be wonderful. It's a good thing and none to soon. The board was beginning to have BHB withdrawal symptoms.
