Brian,

A good choice to start this with.

In Trout Bum there is a chapter where John talks about the impact of the Vietnamese anglers on sawhill ponds in Boulder and that was happening during my time frame of tying for AK. I was one of the anglers he talks about in that story. We were up in arms at the 5-gallon buckets of small fish being harvested by that group. Definitely, one of Johns's best works and as a tribute to John, I will not use his nickname here.

Two quick favorites from Trout Bum...

' Night fishing can be a pain in the ass., literally and figuratively, because you can't
see where you're going or what you're doing, I refuse to night-fish water I am not
familiar with by daylight, but even so - stumps and barbed wire fences change
position and the drop off creep in closer to shore.
The whole place seems different. '

' My gear is spartan and stout, well thought out. There are the two flashlights,
a pair of toenail clippers in the right pants pocket, and a sheepskin hatband full of flies -
poppers on one side / streamers on the other. No fly is smaller that a size 4.
I am after bass. '

My timing is never quite right... a week to do anything today is nutso - especially read an entire book...
So just days after starting this idea, I got word that I am top of the list - for an upcoming
surgery that is gonna sideline me for a bit. Pre checkup junk is this 27th. I am lucky (i think!)

I guess my direction here is just the importance to read.
(and also to write!)

Thanks for all who attended and will attend future classes.
