Sweet, will pay you at the Catskills Rod Makers Gathering where I'll be happy to see you and even happier to listen to your presentation and drool over the FE Thomas rods you're bringing! Cheers and congrats.

Bob,
What a wonderful announcement!
To everyone else-- this amazing book is infinitely loaded with exactly the information we've all been wanting for decades. It's also sumptuous, detailed, superbly illustrated, and combines info previously unknown. Collectors and rod lotharios will envy those who possess a copy. This was a herculean effort, taking years to accomplish.
My hearty congratulations to you and Jerry,
AJ

Bob,
Had a nice talk with Jerry this morning and a wonderful conversation with you this afternoon when You took my order for the book. No doubt in my opinion it will be a quick sell out. When I sold you that mint streamer I new it would remain in good hands.

Tight Lines,

It took these two gentlemen more than 7 years of hard work, including decades of collecting, thousands of miles of traveling, hundreds of hours interviewing or peering at micro-film. They'll never get their money or time back, but they researched this book because they respected Fred and Leon Thomas, and love their rods. This is the definitive work.

... and when the movie comes out, the Devil will be ice fishing.

Relax Mr. Brokenrod . I did not need the lecture. It was a joke. Some of you fly-fishing fanatics get so nutty about your interest that something said in jest is taken so seriously. No need to get defensive. Obviously there are people out there that are willing to pay the price and my joke about waiting for the movie to come out in no way would impact the that select group or anyone else for that matter.

Spoke to Curmudgeon hisself at the Catskill rod makers' gathering this morning and 100 of the 150 copies are sold, not just reserved but paid for, and that's in less than two weeks after the announcement. Another friend told me on the phone tonight that he's mailing a check for two copies in the morning.
They're likely to be sold out before they arrive.

I and many others got to see the advance copy this weekend at the Catskills. I am not even a collector, but walked away astonished at the amount of research that had to go into this book. No wonder that there are two authors, one lifetime would not be enough. Hats off to both of you.

Oh, and Jerry assured me that with each copy bought, Bob is including a mint 6'8" FE Thomas Special.
