Houston? No problem...

#1

Post by Jacharbo »

Hello from Houston. Just joining the forum and looking forward to contributing as well as learning from everyone. I’ve been fly fishing for decades. Tie my own flies and make my own rods. Just starting to move into bamboo and am gathering tools, etc. to ready my shop. Grew up in upstate NY in the Southern Tier, and landed in Houston due to job (chemical engineer in oil and gas). Hope to see some of you on the river and at the various gatherings.

Thanks, Harry. If you ever need a partner to fish bull reds off the great coast of LA, give me a shout. Someday soon I’ll have a redfish-ready cane rod. Until then I’ll be relegated to graphite.

I have fished seven and eight weight bamboo rods for redfish. But I prefer graphite for tossing heavily weighted bugs. Come to think of it I haven’t been down to south Louisiana fishing for a while. Need to remedy that soon.

Welcome, jacharbo! I'm another upstate NY-er (from near the Vermont border), now transplanted to Northern Virginia.

Excellent; lots of good fishing near both of those places!

If you move to Asheville, let me know. I’d be happy to point you in some good directions.
