Hey all:
Rich here - from central Vermont.
I'm new to the forum & looking forward to learning - especially about bamboo fly rods - since I really know nothing. In fact, I don't know how much I don't know! ???

I'm a musician and retired teacher. Took up fly fishing about 11 years ago - when I retired. I'm 72 now.
Glad to have a chance to hang out & gather some insights. Thanks for allowing me to join.

Best...
Rich [VTD48]

Rich, welcome glad to have you. I think we are all in the same boat to a degree…we don’t know what we don’t know. There are many very knowledgeable folks here so don’t be shy. The only dumb question is the one you don’t ask.
Regards,
Lee

Greetings and welcome from a fellow retired teacher and fly fishing addict.

Welcome from NH that has occasion to go up to Milton Vt. Not retired, not a teacher, bamboo about 23 yrs now. Feel free to PM, I can bring a few different rods to muck with.

"A" secret to bamboo rods is: ignore what everyone says. find out what feels good to you and run with it.
As a musician, think of it as "Fender vs Martin" or "Stradivari vs Amati". Each one is good, but only one speaks to you.

Hi Rich,
Welcome aboard this rewarding journey. I used to live in the Barre/Montpelier area before retiring to NH. I still belong to the Mad Dog TU chapter in VT and go back often to see friends. In the spring, once the Pandemic is over, I would enjoy introducing you to some of my bamboo rods. Be safe and have fun with your bamboo journey. -tomVT

Hi ya from the Upper Valley, Rich, and welcome to the forum. In addition to all these good invites, there's also been a little VT "gathering" the last couple years over in Waitsfield. Great chance to learn a ton and cast a bunch of rods. I haven't been able to make it yet. Maybe 2021 if things go right. If you are logged in, you can find it with the search function.

Wow!
Thanks for all the generous offers!

When things lift (I’m counting on late summer in VT) I’ll get back and try to make contact.

Thanks much.
Rich

And, there's another modest bamboo gathering each year (except for this year) in Arlington managed by Forum Member kimk.
