I, unfortunately, got caught up in the facebook purge because I violated community standards, changed email provider and could not be reached at my old email and no cell phone did not meet their standards or they think I am an evil Russian, maybe one of my finest moments ;-). I know this is a serious commitment sight unseen but when done it will be AJ's book in HD. And a look at rods like no other as Mark and others will attest to.

I received the first 2 disks yesterday and watched the first last night. Great stuff. Will the captions/description of each rod be available in a booklet? They were hard to read on the screen.

And for Mr. Richard Kuklis the early victorian rod that you donated to the GTRS, I have positively identified the rod as a Eugene Bartlett #6 trout rod circa 1878-1900, Thanks to Mr, Burton AKA Dustnstuff for the copy of the 1878 Bartlett catalog which shows who made that rod and a fair time frame for it.

the first true Parabolic and the taper of this rod is an extreme example of how a taper affects the action of the rod. The taper map of this rod has a definite convex taper and you literally can see the drop above the grip followed with a swell. that information will be available in the tech manual which is phase two of this project.

I just finished watching disc 2. As you know Jeff, I have seen the GTRS twice, once in the Catskills and again at Somerset. I got nothing like the level of information from seeing the exhibit as I am from the detailed explanations on the discs. I now anxiously await the discs on twentieth century rods, but admit to finding the nineteenth century information enlightening. You are doing important work with this.

The add that A.J. had in "Classic & Antique Fly Fishing tackle" for Mr.Hapgood is a bit of a clue with the J and H on the rod appearing to be in the same font/style as in the add, yep I know it is a stretch but a place to start from for sure. old fishing rods with potential for being very historically important made by gunsmiths.
