Do you know if the larger arbor spool would hold a full DT5? Heavier is better IMHO. Is the weight for your Aluminum version? Will you be making this available as a complete reel for those of us who have not yet purchased one from you or must we buy the smaller arbor version first?

Yes, it should accommodate DT5. The Aluminum version with LA spool and Titanium foot will weight about 4.58 oz or 130 grams.

It is not necessary to purchase a smaller arbor version. This reel will be available with LA spool only too.

Hey Vlad - what does A.P.S. mean ?

Maybe a one $$$ for all price... Classic Trutta Perfetta reel / spare standard spool / spare large arbor spool / add in a parts kit ?
I would also like a special leather case.
Hmmm.

A possible 10 reel run of one color / with a special Classic Fly Rod Forum kind of flair... maybe...
As affordable as the reel is for the quality - I like the idea...

I would be very interested in the large arbor design. Sonewhere around 90 to 95 mm outside diameter and narrow width as possible maybe 30 to 35 mm with a closed cage spool. There are very few closed cage spool reels out there anymore yet they are essential for fishing with very long leaders. I use leaders up to 30 ft long. The only reel I have found that woks for this toe of fishing is the Daniellson original. It would be nice to have something with a click instead of the roller & bearings. I like the second drawing above better than the first - simple and elegant.

John, why do you need a caged spool for longer leaders. Also, is the purpose of a large arbor to keep the fly line in a larger diameter spool to keep it from twisting?? Thanks, Jed

Sorry for the late reply. When euro nymping, I use a 30' leader that is made entirely from 0.008" material, with a 0.007" sighter and 0.006 to 0.005" tippet.. Unless the spool is caged, the material can work itself out of the spool pretty easily. I am using Danielsson reels because the spools are caged and the material can't get out. If I use just about any other reel, it finds its way out of the spool sooner or later.

With this type of leader almost no drag is imparted to the fly making drag-free drifts effortless. I use them for big dry flies, streamers, and nymphs. They do not work for very small ultralight nymphs or dry flies.

Hi to all! just finished the Large Arbor spool for the Trutta Perfetta 3" reel. Faster retrieval rate and less line memory through coiling. The reel effectively becomes a 2-3wt wt reel. So, you can now use the same reel on different rods in various fishing situations.

Feel free to contact me for more info...

New satin hand polished finish - no anodizing... Looks nice and natural. What do you think?

Your reels are gorgeous. I love the models with the S handles, specially the Trutta Perfection.

Very beautiful Vlad. How does this version hold up compared to the anodized version?? Will the anodized version chip for instance?? Thanks, Jed

Vlad my very limited understanding is that anodizing aluminum creates a harder surface than the aluminum underneath. Is the satin hand polished reel an aluminum one?? If it is isn’t it more subject to scratching than the anodized version?? Thanks Vlad. Jed

Hi Jed! You are right! Yes, the satin finish is just polished 6061 Aluminum alloy. And, yes, it can be easily scratched. But it is also can be easily re- polished if necessary (anodized reel can not be re-polished).
Many people love Aluminum's natural classic look and feel. In time it get some signs of use, some sexy circular hairline scratches around the handle, brass hardware gets darker... The entire reel gets vintage and classic look...

Love the bare aluminum version! Wish my silver reel had that finish instead.
