2021 Holireels "Metolius" RP fly reel

[Holireels]

Putting 2020 behind and starting off with beautiful things and places in 2021. The Metolius river is beautiful and one of my favorite places to camp and fish. My first reel for the season is going to be a 2.75" pillar to pillar raised pillar called the "Metolius". Just starting to put things together. Reels will have marbleized ebonite side plates, "S" handle, and adjustable click drag. Will post pics as I progress.

Beauties for sure.....and I share that same sentiment about the Met!! I may need one for the next outing I fish there!! Will any of these be up for sale??

Wow! Marbelised side plates! I hope you are working on those P&P styled reels. I have often wondered what happened to those earlier beautiful experiments. Excited to see how the Metolius will look. Thanks for sharing

Awesome start to 2021 reels

Very much looking forward to the reel, and if it is offered. Paul, Royce, myself, Roger, and many others have great memories of Metolius days. When Steve {Kiley} passed, he asked me to lead his family with his ashes to his favorite reach of the Metolius. That was a very long day, but worth it.

I did not know Steve Kiley had passed and I am sorry to hear that. I met him at the one of the bamboo rod fairs at Camp Sherman and exchanged notes with him over the years on making things. I suppose I will join him down the river if my wishes are granted after my passing.

Thanks all for the nice comments! The side plates are machined aluminum and the pillars are nickel silver. If all goes well, I hope to be making a few batches of these this year.

I am making more progress on the reels and have the side plates nearly completed. Still need to add some holes and then fine polishing.

The Metolius reel is coming to life. Should weigh in just under 4 ounces once complete.
