Heddon #51 Princess Featherweight

The exchange of tapers forum is for classic and personally developed tapers. The definition of classic tapers are those tapers that were developed by rodmakers that are no longer alive. I think the taper is the same as any model Heddon featherweight with the same "F" number.

I would agree. If you know the length you are looking for I believe I have a 7'6" version somewhere.

It is not the same taper as a featherweight. It might take me a while but I should be able to give you that taper.

Thanks oneculm! I believe the Featherweights had swelled butts and the 51 did not.

Matt,

I can say that Heddon also built trade versions of the rod in the model 10/13 range. I have micked, restored and sold one. It is a great 4 weight, 7'6" rod with no swelled butt. I would assume the same taper as the 21/31/51 version. Be interested in comparing. As I said I have the taper somewhere if interested.

Regards

John

Aaron Weiner has one of the original 51 rods that I sold him...maybe he can mic it for you. It is a 7' rod without a swell.

Just to revive this thread, is the taper above the actual measurements for a Heddon Princess? 7’6” with 1/2F? I’m highly interested.

The Princess was only sold in 7' lengths. I have a 7', 2/2 #125-B Greenleaf Bantam by Heddon for Cumings, which appears to be identical to the Heddon #51 "Princess" model. It comes in the correctly labeled bag which describes it as a "Special Dry Fly Action", along with the correct Heddon tube. I'm still trying to figure out a build date for this. If anyone has an interest in this, let me know.

Hi Mark,

I am interested in all things Heddon especially anything 7’6” or shorter.

Thanks,
