First hollow attempt using a star cutter for the top and bottom flats with the side flats fluted, making a hollow-Y of sorts. My primary taper is directly influenced by several Paul Young rods that I've owned but this rod is a flat out attempt to copy. The taper for this one from the rod he built for Martha Marie (thanks to Banjo-may he R.I.P.) A "Luxified" Perfectionist - I followed every shoulder and flat as closely as I could with the internal tapers but built out as a Pentalux. Final rod has same ferule dimensions, combined seat & grip length, guide spacing, etc - this with nickel silver cap and ring over cedar and maple seat though as opposed to the original with its variegated grip and aluminum ferrules. Final weight on this one is 2.8oz. All I can say is, Thank you Mr. Young!

Love the quiet appearance of this one Jan96. The reel bands suit the rod.

Thank You very much Greg :) I really like the "quiet appearance"...

Thank you Sanderson. :) I use Bison PU glue which is somewhat less thick than Gorilla PU glue so I give " a couple" more coats for security...

Thanks SpringCreek :)

Hello rodmakers,

Those are my last rods I'd like to show you.

First one is a famus Dickerson 8013 taper.
The secound one is a my interpretation of Young's "Midge" taper transformed to bamboo on bamboo ferrule.

Both have Dickerson's style down locking seat with stabilized myself burl insert. The strip guide by Ernest Oczoś.
I am waiting for a spring and a first hatch.

Regards,
Adam.

This is the first bamboo rod I have ever made, based off of the Garrison 209E taper. I am now working on a dickerson 8013 and a young perfectionist.

From looking at all of the other rods posted in this thread, I not only need to improve my rodbuilding skills but also my photo taking skills. LOL
There is lots of very nice rods posted in this thread

That green has come out to a dark olive. It would look good with titanium or smoke guides.
Maybe you should strip them off and do it again >:D ;)
Another very good looking rod Jan.
Cheers, Mark

Nicely done Lee. I am just starting a 3-pc version of that taper for packing it into the Smokies.
