#1566I've cast at least 3 of your builds over the years and they're very nice rods, perfect for our Midwestern streams. I can also tell you that the owners of your rods are very happy with them and fish them a lot; in my book, that's the ultimate compliment.Squaw Bend wrote: ↑04/12/23 22:43
When I have fished a cane rod, I have been fishing a 7’6”, 5wt. #007 that I built in the early 2,000’s and a nice old 2-7/8” Perfect.
It’s nothing fancy, but it’s mine, and I generally fish it pretty well.

#1567That is my definition of a good day! What a beautiful rod and reel combination (and a great fish, too). PM sent.

#1571You are correct. The fish took a size 14 High Vis Griffith’s Gnat off the surface. There were a lot of midges with fish feeding on clusters. We did a lot of fishing from the boat as the water was 39 degrees.
We were guided by Dante Bonanini of the Bighorn Trout Shop. Dante is an excellent young guide. The Bighorn Trout Shop is the best shop on the river.

#1572Bighorn Trout Shop are great guys. I looked at that photo and the bank in the background looked like my memories below Three Mile.

#1577Another day, another fish on the jenkins 70l
This rod is amazing. Fishing a 406 dt3 on it. It is a ninja. An assassin. I think it's hooked 2 dry sipping fish in about 9 casts.

#1578This week I finally took a break after nine straight days, as it got cold enough and brought the river back to 43 degrees and shut everything off. Back out there yesterday with my Dennis Menscer 8' 5 weight hollowbuilt rod and the old cast CFO IV that married that rod seven years ago. Two foot wild brown from a classic Catskill freestone river, the Beaver Kill on a size 18 olive. Doesn't get better than that!

#1579Caneghost,
Impressive trout on any water but especially so for that region. Great start to your season.
