Steady all-day dry fly action on an Orvis Limestone Special, 8'6" 2/2. The fish were hitting big Stimulators and smaller salmon fly patterns all over the river. Pure joy.

I fished an Orvis 7 1/2' 3-piece Battenkill from 1962 and caught my best fish of 2022 thus far. It was a fun day on the river throwing big dark flies once I realized that the trout were feeding on cicadas. I ended the day with 2 cutthroat and 10 browns, all of which were in the 12" range.

Fished my Charlie Jenkins GA80 yesterday. Beautiful stream that is loaded with small, wild rainbows. Some small wild brookies too. Grateful to get out for a few hours on the holiday weekend. Happy 4th everyone!

Nice Bluegills on a dandy classic outfit! That must've been fun! Along with Perch, my favorite for the skillet.

A Lancaster 7'9" 5 wt Para 14 with 3 inch St Grg in the AM with stimis and nymphs.
Later, same reel with an old Scott F794 brown glass (7'9" 4 wt 4 pc) and small spiders and wets. Forgot how pleasant this old rod is...........

This week, I have fished with a 1971 vintage, 8ft Hardy Phantom (2piece, 5wt) and a Milward Flymaster, 8ft, (2 piece 4 / 5wt, dating from c. mid 1950s), on the River Itchen near Winchester, England.

The Phantom, I bought a few months ago in new and unused condition, with the shrink wrap still on the grip. It is rapidly becoming my favourite rod for use on rivers, other than very small streams. The Flymaster is somewhat softer in action and seems to prefer the 4wt line rather than a 5wt.

On this trip, I fished both dry fly and a nymph under an indicator, catching trout to c. 15 inches and a couple of grayling to c. 12 inches. Next week, I shall take the Phantom to the River Lambourne - a somewhat smaller chalk stream which nonetheless holds trout to around 3 pounds.

Hi All,

Water is starting to warm up here in sunny Ontario. Getting my licks in while the temps are still cool. Out on my favorite stream with a mid seventies Leonard 38H and a period Hardy Featherweight.

First time fishing the ADKS. Brought up a few rods. Today I fished a Leonard 50L. Found a nice river Up by Lake George on a family vacation. Was on the water an hour or so and caught 6 Rainbows and 3 browns. Most looked like recently stocked fish. This one however put a nice bend in the rod. Well I will post the pictures later when service is better.

Just back from a 2 day camping/fishing trip to a place that I last fished in late May when we had quite a bit of snow.

The first part of Saturday, I fished a Sweetgrass Mantra 7' 9" 3-piece then I switched to my most recent Orvis Seven Four to chase little brookies where I was bit by about 15 mosquitos for every brookie caught...but it was so worth it.

Fished the Orvis Seven Four again this morning and closed out the trip with a couple of nice rainbow including the one in the photo that decided it liked being out of the water as much as in the water when it has a hook in its jaw

And its not all (just mostly) about the fishing and comradery.
