#1284First outing of the year - 'tis been cold, rainy and far too busy...
But a 75 degree day in an eastern canyon with a few natives is an easy way to go - and a very special Heddon #135...
The beautiful Heddon craft from a different era just fits in with the striking beauty of Spring and an eastern forest...

#1285A late 1940’s PHY 8’ 3 7/8 oz evolutionary step before the final rendition of Paul H. Young’s Para 15. This according to Bob Summers after his review, refinish, and casting session with some friends. A very nice rod with either of 5dt or 6 depending on the tip. Adorned with a post 1928 ribbed foot 3” St. George.

Tim Zietak also attended to a few items for me that I have had out lately. A 1930’s Heddon 1525 8’ 3/2 marked for Folsom wearing a redish/orange lipsticked Young 3 1/8” 15A peach DT5. The 3” St. George pictured above on the PHY is badged for Folsom Arms, but I believe this Young 15A better follows the color combinations of this rod, which we all know is one of the most important things when fishing.

#1286A coupla' hours today with a light Lancaster Savage River 7'2" 2/2 4 wt and Peerless 7M DT4 and #16 sparkleduns.
Re: What are you fishing this week?
#1287Brought a few rods to the river today. Val fished my Orvis 4 1/8. I was going to fish both the F.E. Thomas Lt. Special and Streamers 8’ 3/2 four weight. I enjoyed fishing the Housatonic Rods so much I never went back to the truck for the Thomas. Paired Streamers’ rod with a Hardy Bougle and a Phoenix Dt 4 wt line. The rod casts delightfully slow and is very light in the hand. Had a good time.

I want to be buried with my favorite rod.
I hear the Styx River has Fish.

Re: What are you fishing this week?
#1289Just back from a 4 day weekend. Thursday brought high winds, high temps, and very high water, so no fishing. Snow on Friday, nice weather and lower water levels on Saturday and travel day on Sunday. I fished my new to me Orvis 7 1/2' 3/2 4 oz rod and my 1st gen Orvis Seven - Four. Only the Seven - Four saw any action with small brookie and cutthroat eagerly taking a yellow humpy in a small feeder creek to this river.

#1292New Utah, I guess you now qualify as a fully fledged fly fishing desperado!

#1293This week the water is up to the bridges where I fish. I am finishing wrapping a Chinese clone PY Perfectionist. Feels like an okay blank.
Re: What are you fishing this week?
#1294First time fishing the Wisconsin driftless area earlier this week; Dennis Stone 7' 4wt "Kiley's Granger" with various caddis dry flies for Brown Trout. Needless to say, but truly awesome fishery; I will be back!
Re: What are you fishing this week?
#1295Fished the South fork of the St Vrain this morning with my Brush Creek 4wt. The melt is getting rolling. Water was fast and stream was much wider than normal. Was able to net this brown which is typical size for this stream.

#1296Fished my new RW Hoffhines 8' 5-wt on Saturday, the river is showing the aftermath of the flood it took two weeks earlier and hatches were non-existent, but managed to pound up some fish with a CDC & Elk.

#1300Lovely. Many years ago, I had a Maurer rod. I wish I had not sold it.
