Actually, not to play devil's advocate, but using soap on a properly seasoned pan won't hurt it in the slightest. Scrubbing them is another story. I have one pan with the grill-grooves in it that needs to be scrubbed every time, but it's the only one. And it is well seasoned, I assure you.

I really want to try the following method. When testing it, they ran it through a high-temp commercial dish washer with no problem, and these guys test the crap out of everything they do! Flax and linseed oil are essentially the same thing - with one big exception.
Oil sold as flax oil is the edible cooking oil. Linseed oil is the industrial version that can/does have additives in it. So, if cooking use flax oil, if painting or working with wood - use linseed.
