Warmer weather is on the way?
#1It must be getting closer to summer, as they are now stocking Bell's Oberon(seasonal, my favorite summer beer) at the grocers, although you sure wouldn't know it looking at the forecast. Possibly snow on Easter, cold most of the next two weeks. Not much blooming here in St. Louis, which is extremely unusual for late March. But at least the Oberon is back. Cheers.

#3Jay;
Well, on the good side, you can (maybe) grab an Oberon and think about the precip that you might be getting.

#4I am still sipping rye whisky by the fire, just like back in Jan, Cause it feels like Jan! 14f this moring and 6" of snow, now it's 17f and getting colder. More snow and no fishing in the forecast!
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it. T.R.

#570 degrees yesterday, 75 degrees today, 35 degrees for a high tomorrow. Gonna need a fur lined Easter Bonnet with a chin strap to hold on in 35-45 mph north winds. Gradual warmup through week but only that one really nasty day tomorrow.

#6Living in Florida I miss the signs of the coming fishing season I looked forward to in Pennsylvania fifty years ago. I always knew trout time was near when the peepers started their song in the spring behind the house.

#7Thank you, Barry, for revitalizing memories of Spring nights when a person could barely sleep for the din of Pacific Tree Frog calls in ditches and ponds. At least I still get to experience similar when tenting at higher elevation lakes in June.

#8We've got some kind of frog in the pond behind the house here in FL. Noisy little buggers. None in the canal in front of the house for some reason. Meanwhile it's looking like tarpon weather to me! Water temp was 76 yesterday and we're starting to see the bigguns.GRASSNGLASS wrote:...when the peepers started their song in the spring behind the house.

#9Eight inches of snow and high winds here in the UP yesterday. A slap in the face that reminds you who's boss.
Re: Warmer weather is on the way?
#1011 degrees this morning. In a normal year I would have been out fishing nearly a half dozen times by now. I haven’t been out yet because of cold temps, and on warmer days—run off.

#11Wished my Mom and Dad a happy Easter this morning, it was 4f in Cloquet when they got up, makes me feel good about the 12f on the thermometer in BZN! Well sort of...

#12Hey sno, either of them work at the Casino? My S-I-L is secretary to the Chief and has been active in Indian affairs for years now.
As for hearing the din of the peepers and those other sounds of spring, I have had tinnitus since youth so I hear them all the time. Problem is, when other people mention how loud they are I'm still hearing the same thing. One cool thing is when a cricket or two gets in the house and drives the wife or kids nuts trying to find it I don't hear it. I have never heard a cricket cricketting or chirping or whatever they do.

#13Another sign of spring, couple new kids in the backyard.
Hopefully they will make it. Tough life down here for the young fighting off the coyotes, bald eagles and hawks.

My wife was in the yard, last year, when this guy grabbed a squirrel and took it over to the neighbors yard to dine. About a week later heard an elderly lady took a cane to him when he attacked an adult SandHill Crane.

Yup, April 6th, it's 15 degrees and snowing here in Bozeman again this morning. Like they say, "Montana has three seasons, this winter, last winter and next winter. And they wonder why we drink....................

#15Same here in the Black Hills. 12 degrees this a.m. and another 5-6 inches of snow last night.
I've lived here for 42 years now and have never seen anything quite like it. Snow in April, sure, but record low daily 'high' temperatures too??
Where's global warming when you need it?

#18That quote could be applied to Minnesnowta as well. It's not much better in Sheridan where I'm going this week. Re: Warmer weather is on the way?
#20Friday night it was 23 degrees plus an inch of snow here in the Missouri Ozarks. It was so cold I lit a fire in my wood stove to supplement our electric heat. But hopefully, this is winter's last frigid gasp as it is forecast to hit 80 or better by mid week. I just know the older I get, the less I like the cold (71 here). Now if the torrential rains will just pass us by this year, there should be some wade fishing soon. Last year, King Kong could not have kept his footing in our tailwaters, with all generators plus flood gates running around the clock for weeks on end. The White River below all the dams looked like Niagara Falls flowing horizontally. But I have my hopes for this season. "My rod and my staff comfort me".
