HORROCKS-IBBOTSON Fly Rod Catalog Listings 1900-1953
#1Below, in chronological order, are the original 1900-1953 Clark-Horrocks & Horrocks-Ibbotson Co. split bamboo fly rod catalog listings. Thanks go out to Mark (Admin.) again for allowing this thread to be pinned as a lasting reference. A special thanks also to forum member Warren Horrocks, who supplied many of the listings. Unlike the other three catalog threads, this will be a SLOW work in progress and not nearly as comprehensive initially, as pre-WWII catalogs from H-I only rarely come up for sale. Nonetheless, this should be a decent representation for most of the rods available from H-I for a 50-year period. ANY help with scans of catalogs not listed here will be greatly appreciated and your name will be credited here for eternity. Thank you.
Mark
*Note* Listing for Wood rods, bamboo Bait Casting rods and Salt Water rods are available upon request.
The 1907 CLARK-HORROCKS CO. CATALOG.
Not the best quality, but I've never seen another.

#11The 1932 HORROCKS-IBBOTSON CATALOG.
By contrast, in 1932 Heddon offered 13 different model bamboo fly rods. Horrocks-Ibbotson offered 53 different models, just in split bamboo, with a few dozen other fly rod models offered in wood and Japanese bamboo.

#18The 1941 HORROCKS-IBBOTSON Catalog.
Note the "King" 2-piece model, something that many collectors doubted the existence of. Only available for two years.

#19The 1942 HORROCKS-IBBOTSON Catalog.
The "emergency" referred to in the catalog insert below was obviously the attack on Pearl Harbor. After May of 1942, all tackle production was suspended for war production. Notice the "King" model was discontinued after only one year.

#20The 1947 HORROCKS-IBBOTSON Catalog.
There were no catalogs printed during 1947 or 1948, as H-I was still re-tooling for tackle production. However, shown below is a page from a 1947 mailer, showing four rod models that would soon be some of their highest-grade fly rods after WWII, until the end of bamboo rod production in the early 1950's. Below that is the July, 1947 prospective rod list taken from Don C. Jann's Horrocks-Ibbotson salesman book. This represents the earliest mention of post-war H-I rods that I know of.
The 1947-1948 HORROCKS-IBBOTSON Catalogs.
The photos below were also taken from Don C. Jann's salesman's book, who served the Upper Midwest Region for Horrocks-Ibbotson. They show the fly rod models that were scheduled to be produced for 1947-1948, but do not include illustrations. It was titled "Line Of Split Bamboo Fishing Rods To Be Fabricated For The Fiscal Year 1947-48".
