Love those Ross R series reels. I’m guessing those are either R2 or R3?

Wanna fish with a classic and well-made, modern, "skeleton" fly reel? Try one of these made by Olympic Reel (Seiko Co. Patent) in Japan as the "Silver Fox" model.

They were available in several finishes; take up to a WF-5-F line, have an on-off click and can be used LHW or RHW. Perfect for small bamboo rods, IMHO.

Here are 3 early William Dingley perfects, a 3 , 3 3/4 inch with line guides, and a 4 inch without.
Image
the 3 3/4 inch has a revolving line guide which isn,t that common to Dingleys I don,t think

While I got postimage up here are a couple more, made by Percy Wadham, The Test, in 3 1/4 inch and 4 1/2 inch the scratch on back of larger reel is not as bad without the flash although it has for sure seen some days on the water.

So good looking the ABU Delta fly reel but I hav´nt seen many use them. I never used mine. Came on the market in the 1960th and left again in the late 1970th. Not expensive to purchase on the second-hand market and not rare. Enjoy !

And its not as wide..

Great thread, glad to contribute.
Three sibling amigos, in all their confusing model number glory:
Image

On inspection, all three are identical but for three line guide variations,
and are stamped as models: #1895 - no guide, #1896 - clear agate guide, and #1897 - chrome ring guide
- this is, IMHO, one of the great Blue Collar reels of the early 20th Century -

How about a leaded and unleaded pair to bring this thread back to life...

Uniquas with riveted latches as shown by Flyman615 earlier, but this time with a leaded 3 1/8" and unleaded 2 7/8" with optional tension adjuster
