Trutta Perfetta 3" Aluminum - new reel

#1

Post by VRD »

Hello Everyone!

Decided to update the thread...

It has been a long time since I was last with you... So many different things have happened in my life!... But finally I managed to get these reels made and they are available again. I'm truly delighted with the high quality of manufacture and I'm sure you will be too. Each reel has been inspected and built by myself personally.

UK customers can buy the reels from my official UK agent - Thomas Turner. The rest of the world fellas can purchase directly from my web site here: vr-reels.com

Now, the Aluminium reels are currently available in two sizes: Trutta Perfetta 3" and 2 3/4". Colors available are Dark Olive, Clear Silver and Champagne Gold.

Also I have a few Titanium Trutta 3" left in stock. These are the last ones - and I do not know really when I can start to manufacture Ti reels again...

Also for December - January I'm planning to release the Salar Incomparabile 3 5/8" in Aluminium I'm currently working on the bigger diameter Trutta style reels - 3 1/2" and 4".

If you have any questions I'll do my very best to answer them.

Best of season to you as well. I really like the classic styling of this reel and with the 2 bearings should last forever. Palming ring on spool to and great price. To me this reel really hits the mark. Daryl

Thank you! And the bearings are relatively inexpensive, easy to find and easy to change without any special tools! Happy New Year!

I agree completely. What a lovely reel and at amazing price point.
The click is probably memorable.

I configured the all white (silver) reel with white handle... delicious!
But this light olive color just caught my eye : wow!

Thank you! This reel is I would say an evolution of the Prince George 3" reel which was designed almost 10 years ago. It has many similar features such as an integrated axle, two ball bearings, handle design, spool fixation system...

I want to show some pictures of these reels as ordered one and received it yesterday. It came from Vlads shop all the way to a small village in southern BC in 7 days, a bit unexpected to be so quick but true. The reel is built to very close tolerances in my opinion. Fit seems better than the older reels that I,m more used to(mostly older Dingleys or Hardys).I put a line on it this morning to see how it would balance on the rods I planned on using it with and with full double taper line and about 110feet of backing balances very nice on a 7 ft Heddon Featherweight clone. The packaging was very well done ,came with a very nice leather reel pouch, a schematic drawing, use and care instructions and a nice letter, the reels are numbered as well.It would hold more backing and the stuff I had was likely 30 pound braid of another spool which is way over kill for a 3 inch reel but wanted to line it and see how it balance,s on a rod. Any way here are some pic,s will fish it hard over summer and see how feel in fall but first impressions are a really well made quality reel made with care and precision.

room for more backing and nice leather pouch

Back side , nice job on the finish too, this one is olive, pictures take outside this morning under cloudy sky. As you can probably tell i,m pretty please with the reel, very few parts but very well executed. Thanks all. Daryl

Congrats. Vlad did a nice job getting my reel assembled per my desires and in the hands of Fedex. I expect that it will appear next week and I am excited, even though I can't fish it for a couple of months! Our next week looks to feature a lot of days in the twenties.

Mine arrived yesterday and I am truly impressed. The quality and presentation is truly first rate! The satin finish black anodizing and brass foot and fasteners match the reel seat and blonde cane of the Sweetgrass pent its destined for.

I love the design and craftsmanship: classic and modern at the same time as is the rod, and I expect many wonderful days on the water! Three more months of winter, but come spring I'll be able to her her sing!

Vlad was terrific to deal with, and shipped everything promptly and securely. The intelligence of advanced design and old world craftsmanship and attention to detail are alive at VR Design.

Hi to all!

Thinking about designing of a Large Arbor spool for this reel. It could be available as an option...
The LA spool's working volume will be 40% less than on the normal arbor spool...

The arbor diameter will be 1,8" or 45mm

Normal Arbor Spool is 4,6 inch*3
Large Arbor Spool is 2,8 inch*3

What do you guys think about this idea?
I would very much appreciate your thoughts on it... ))

I would prefer if the large arbor spool were more in the Classic Era vein myself.
Or at some point - the look becomes lost with every other.
The top two designs are not as impressive to me as the bottom two in classic appeal - more the look of classic and less space age.
