funny story about the Darby book, several years ago, my wife and I decided to make a detour on a trip home to stop at the Catskills Fly Fishing museum. on the way through the Catskills we saw a little antique shop and stopped to see what they had - poking around I found a nice copy of the Darby book on a table - $25. I had a copy but I figured the museum could get a few bucks for it on the used book shelf.
when we stopped Agnes was there and I handed her the book. She asked if it was signed and I laughed and said it was only $25 - she opened it and low and behold it was signed by both Harry and Elsie - so I bought my own book back from the museum at a lot more than $25 -
my favorite signed fishing book, just for the autograph is a signed copy Ed Van Put's Trout Fishing the Catskills book which Agnes (Ed's Mother) offered to sign too and I was happy to get it

#8"In the Ring of the Rise" by Vincent Marinaro. I've been told, don't know if it's true, that he was not one to sign a lot of books.

#9Here's mine. I was able to have President Carter sign my copy of his book after having tied several flies for him on one of his annual fishing trips here in Big Sky Country. This happened five years ago. I still tie for him and a few of his close friends here but alas he didn't make it out here this past year.

Re: Your Favorite Autographed Book
#13I have a signed G.EM. Skues and while unable to find it I did find the following book.
I was at the estate auction up in Maryland and bought a booklot with this in it. That was on a Friday. Took it to a dealer friend who said probably not real because he only signed Bobby to close friends. Went back to the second day of the auction on the next Monday and they sold a life size portrait of Jones. So I'm guessing they may have been friends.

#19I spent most of my money on shotguns, fly rods, guitars and banjos. The rest I just wasted. (Apologies to W.C. Fields)
Re: Your Favorite Autographed Book
#20Not that an autographed book makes it more valuable for me but having a signed 'Classic Rods and Rodmakers', 'Trout' (Schwiebert), '8' (Carmichael) and 'The Dettes' are nice.
What I really like are two books from South Africa, 'South African Fishing Flies' and 'Feather Mechanic' as they both have a drawing of a Humpy. As you might know Humpy's are my favourite dry flies to tie
