These popped up today as an FB memory from 2014 when my son was training on a world famous cross country ski trail system in northern WI with his Nordic ski team, I had stopped by the river to see how it was looking in -14 degree air temp on my way up to the trails a couple miles away:
On the way out the arctic sun had set but there was still that pastel glow we have in the northern latitudes, so I stopped to take one more look at the river in its inky black winter slumber, dreaming of those soft June evenings with dancing brown drakes and sulphurs silhouetted against the twilight sky, whippoorwills calling and the first of the fireflies winking in the dark woods...soon.

#2Very nice images and memories! I recognize those spots and enjoy sulphurs on June nights as well.
