New to me. Would love getting updated estimate info after searching older posts. Warning: many unordered photos.
Post-fire, HL Leonard SB butt,
darker butternut?
red wraps and hook keep
38H tube label (very faint)
7', 2/2, 2.75 kitchen scale oz.,
serial 21xx (see in photos, ca. 1974/5?),
size 9/64 ferrule;
one tip clearly repaired ~2" short,
other measurements if needed.
patina likely sanded from cigar grip,
Original matching s/n tube; No hang tag;
bag is perhaps too pristine; khaki, no stiffener, but fits like a glove.
Comments and advice most appreciated; This rod seems VGC. Ballpark value most helpful to me in talking about this rod intelligently - after I calm down a bit!
thank you for your patience with me, JoeBolt

#2Yours is a last-era Leonard, about 1972 or so. With the short tip and a couple very minor other issues, it won't bring top dollar. However, smaller Leonard's like yours have some demand and my quick guess would be that you may be able to squeak something close to $1000 for it, maybe less.

#3I think you have a good ‘user’ rod with a nice taper. Fish it!
For reference, I picked up an early post fire model 40 red wrap, all original VGC, serial# 9XX with all the right stuff for $1K. I also acquired a 38H red wrap that looks like it just came from the Leonard shop serial# 28XX, it even came with the registration card for $1800. I probably over paid by a bit.
Condition is everything.
Booman2 may be a little optimistic, but you never know.

#4Perfect. I have well South of $1000 into it, and I don't really care about the margins, just that I did an ok job and didn't make a blunder of it.
Onward!. Thanks very much.

#5Joe,
The Leondard 38H is a great taper for a seven foot fly rod. The 38H rods are often offered for sale above $1,500 so your rod even with one short tip was obtained at a reduced price. You will enjoy fishing this rod.
