Pat 8-3-15 Granger GG CC Bamboo 9'
#1Thanks for having this forum available.
I've collected fishing gear of all sorts for years and had this nice bamboo rod stashed deep.
It is a 9' with no markings on heel or anywhere but the 2 tips.
Pat 8-3-15 on one. Then a tree with GG or GC or any combination of G OR C.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Won't let me add photos yet.
Thanks
Johnny

sorry, but you do not have a Goodwin Granger there. Can not be sure without pictures of the reel seat But I am 99% positive because of the long conical winding check which was never used by GG but was used by Horrocks&Ibbotson. The 8-3-15 is the patent date for the "Perfection tip tops" not the rod itself. 2 copper pieces from the cave;-)
edit; Need pictures of the reel seat and also the ferrules to be able to give a positive ID. ferrules are the metal connectors at the ends of the sections.

#8Thank you having issues with photos
Can I just send the link to my entire group of uploads?
What about the logo at the tip with the tree and CC or GG at the base?
Thanks

Re: Pat 8-3-15 Granger GG CC Bamboo 9'
#14Rod looks to be original, NOT Goodwin Granger PERIOD!!! the marks you are referring to are the perfection tip-top markings and have absolutely 0 relationships with Granger. That rod was made by H&I between 1915 and 1930. No matter where you post this the answer will always be that rod is an H&I PERIOD !! NOT Granger!! Same reply and information given can be found on your FB post as well.

#15Thanks for your expertise.
Apparently dealing with novices has made you a little crochety over the years, I get it.
I'm not trying to change the outcome or falsify anything. I truly had no idea.
Would the tree CC stamp at the top of the tip date it at all?
Thanks
John

#16The man helps you with truth and honesty and you gingerly throw out crochety.
Using Google Images can help you figure out stamps and logo's for future reference.

#17The marks you keep referring to are the Perfection tip-top companies patent marking on the tip tops and has 0 relations to identifying the maker (second or third time telling you this). Many used the same tip tops because they set the industry standard at that time. This is the second or third time telling you here and on Facebook what the rod is and when it was made (H&I made between 8/3/15 to 1940 at the latest) and you received a dead-on ID of that rod and when it was made.
Thanks, Brian just trying to help. And he has not seen crotchety yet ;-)
