Man's Best Friend

A place to discuss the collecting and tying of classic flies, the tyers who made them famous, the tools, materials and techniques they used as well as the waters they were designed for. While classic is generally used to describe old things, classic is also used in the sense of first class or in the highest form. Therefore a fully dressed Salmon Fly, or a Carrie Stevens Streamer are just as much classics as a Chernobyl Ant would be. Enjoy the forum.

Man's Best Friend

Post by PYochim »

They really are. A guy up the road who lets me fish his property asked me if I had any tan scuds as he and his daughter were going to fish the Bighorn on the next warm day. I told him I would tie him some. I needed dark tan dubbing. In the meantime I tested positive for COVID and am quarantined for 5 days without tan dubbing.

You guessed it.

The fly. I'll call it the Breton Bighorn Scud.

I'm feeling fine, just a little tired.

Hope you have a full and speedy recovery.

I need to collect some dubbing my my Britts and torties...I certainly vacuum enough of it up.

Thanks for the compliments on the fly and well wishes. These dogs come in handy in a lot of ways. Nikki saw me coming at her with a brush and ran under the bed. I was able to coax her out.

I'm feeling a little tired but okay. My home incarceration ends Monday but I'm going to lay low for a few more days to stay on the safe side.

Will do. I'm on home incarceration without the ankle bracelet. All kidding aside, I consider myself fortunate.

Stay hydrated and keep on tying... your boxes will thank you.

Treats will keep the pup happy.

Get well soon.

Paul, Nikki’s a beauty. As is the scud. very well tied as usual.

I received a forward yesterday featuring an article from the Billings Gazette ( I think ) that mentioned fish counts were about double last year from 2019 on some stretches of the Bighorn and that they were represented by a very healthy age class range. Also that the smallmouth bass are doing extremely well in the lake.

Hopefully with some rest you’ll be back to 100 percent soon. Good luck.

Adrien, thank you for the kind comments. I need to harvest some more fur. A little goes a long way. She and Lois have been good company for me while I'm holed up.

I'm looking forward to fishing the Bighorn this year, both the Montana and the Wyoming section.
