The 1958 Orvis Catalog

or however that dang word is written! : ) Use this forum to discuss those things that are related to, directly, or indirectly, fly fishing, i.e., tackle, catalogs, single malt scotch, cigar preferences, pipes, camera gear, etc. This is sort of an off topic area but one related to bamboo and fly fishing.

One of the things that always caught my fancy in that catalog is the surf spinning rod. I looked for one for years. I think I saw one a few years back on the auction site, but I talked myself out of it. Was probably a fortune to ship.

Lee Wulff holding up a Dorado and a ferrule cut away shot in the same post.. absolutely the coolest!

The Orvis 99 is one my favorite rods for a reason. Quality in materials and workmanship.

Some choice gear was on the way in the 1960's.

I like them too. The only one I've seen is displayed with other angling items in the staircase of the Orvis Manchester retail store.

Thank for the kind words guys. Many more catalogs to come...
