I gest of course. Does one think this will ever become an item that will fit into the idea of a classic? I suspect not. Be sure to skip the ad. :D

I already use heavy reels to balance the rod and keep the tip up. Why would ever want something that takes the reel off the rod?

The only rods that I ever get sore shoulders from casting are very light graphite ones.

It certainly has utility for somebody, somewhere, but in general an invention should simplify things, not complicate them.

That's gotta be pretty close to the stupidest thing I've ever seen connected to fly fishing.
A mountain is a fact -- a trout is a moment of beauty known only to men who seek them
Al McClane in his Introduction to The Practical Fly Fisherman . . . often erroneously attributed to Arnold Gingrich

Not a stupid idea if you have the use of only one arm. I bought one to see if it would help a traumatically brain injured friend, who has tremors on one side which make it extremely hard to hold a rod and reel with the other hand..

Hey I had a popeil 'pocket fisherman' in 1972, I loved that thing, just whip it out and you're fishing in an instant.

Well, actually, it might be a refinement of a Classic.
I have seen photos from the old days of a similar idea.
The reel was secured to the waist like a giant belt buckle.

I gave up my kayak a long time ago in favor of canoes.
But, the video adds some value for kayakers and ridiculous boat modifications that force innovation.

I agree with Royce; certainly worth trying for those who do not have the full capacity of the "typical" angler. Hopefully many people will benefit from this invention!

It seems to make sense for someone who does not have the use of both arms I guess. Not the dumbest thing, I reserve that honor for those rod holster things and guys who carry two or three fully rigged rods on the river.

As far as I can tell, you would still need two hands to use this contraption. A similar device is referred to in “A Trouts Best Friend “, the Bud Lilly autobiography. During the presentation of the former device, which had some sort of harness,a attendee asked “looks good but how would you take a s—t?” . The end !

I do not like heavy reels or "balanced" heavy rods. I have experimented with casting without the reel mounted and feel like that is an improvement. But......this rig just looks like trouble that I do not need to add to my fishing day. I rate it as a dead 0 for any interest from me. Not even a "nice try". Just zero. Graphite or bamboo.

In my opinion, this falls into the category of, "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should". I look to simply fly fishing, not make it more complicated. I don't like things hanging off my vest or my neck so a contraption like that is not something I would use.

Plus, that thing protruding out from his chest where he attaches the rod to could be a serious injury point in the event of a face-forward fall.

Innovative. Very clever in deed and I'm sure it has some practical applications (Project Healing Waters comes to mind) -but not for me.

Besides, getting your line tangled in various accoutrements is part of the fun of hooking a fish. At least to those who may be watching.
