2022 Colorado RodMakers Reunion

#1

Post by GrayHackleRods »

I need to apologize as I have been very remiss in posting this.

The Colorado RodMakers Reunion will be held July 21-23 at Chair Mountain Ranch in Marble, CO. We are expecting a good turnout this year and would really like to hit the 100 attendees number. Registration is $100 for participants and $35 for non-participants. The registration form is available at www.coloradorodmakers.org along with all information regarding registration.

As many of you know we lost Lowell Davis last year, he was one of the founders of CRR and was very involved in SRG for a number of years. We will have a memorial to Lowell on Friday night. As a way to honor his legacy and his dedication to our craft we have started a Lowell Davis Award to be given to someone for their outstanding contributions to the rodmaking community. With that we are requesting nominations. If you know of someone that is dedicated to rodmaking and fostering that with others please send a letter with a description of how the individual has contributed to our craft. You may send that by email to registrar@coloradorodmakers.org or by snail mail to;

Lee

You all made a Missouri guy feel mighty welcome.
Such a pleasure to put faces with names.

Lucky me - I stayed at the Gnome's house.
Lee and Becca were there too.
Looking forward to next year.
Might actually go fishing.

Pure joy casting so many bamboo rods.
Meeting so many makers.
Brian

The Gnome's cast is like none other - his motion is natural.

Jeff was the recipient of The Lowell Davis Award.
There was not a dry eye in the house.
Lee made it happen.

Chet Croco of Genuine Bellinger, on how fortunate we are to have these gatherings,
presented Mike Canazon with the A.P. Bellinger Award.

Right on munsey - it was a hoot! Rained most days. Every case in the GTRS was spared a drop. More on that to come :eek

This is in Marble, Colorado - just down the road from Chair Mountain Ranch.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make it to this years reunion. I greatly missed catching up with this group - seeing these pics makes me miss chatting with you all even more.

A sincere congratulations and "thank you" to Jeff and Mike for everything they do to support and push forward this craft. Any opportunity to hang out with the Gnome and observe his skills in both making and using a fly rod has taught me a thing or two (more like dozens)!

Thank you to everyone who makes these gatherings possible!

Already looking forward to next year...

Hi Guys, Finally I and my brother got to go to CRR! GTRS was a goal, but weather conspired against it. Damn! But there'll be another time. I've seen it numerous times, but I really wanted my brother Brit to spend some time with it.
I want to thank all the attendees for being nice to Brit. He loves the bamboo as much as we all do. As Alan said to me, "He loves to cast, doesn't he?"
Yes he does!

Besides the people...

Image

The other most enjoyable reason to go - the rods.

Image

To be able to cast so many makers rods in one place.

Put it on the calendar for 2023!

I would really like to attend the 2023 gathering if possible. Have you decided on a date? I want to be sure to block out the time soon as summer scheduling is so crazy.
Thanks for organizing what looks like such a great event!

A lesson on how to make reel cases... and how to cover rod cases with leather.

Image

The tools - and knowing how to use them.

Alan Kube even brought a reel he made from scratch. Wow.
