Snowy Egret Painting

Finished up another oil painting this is a snowy egret, I still have to varnish the painting but it is complete. Painting was based on a photo I took in Florida.

I think it has exceptional restraint and purity of line for an oil painting of a beautiful bird. Would love to hear more about your influences, because your anatomy is fantastic, without being too detailed. Sublime, and really well done, imo.

You've captured the bird in the moment - the realism is as I'd expect to come upon the bird in my canoe rounding a bend at the marshy end of the pond.
I'd proudly hang it in my room!

Thanks for the responses glad you all liked it. I enjoy birds often watching them while fishing on various rivers or even in the backyard in the various nest boxes I have in the yard. Here are a few more birds (egret and heron) that I painted last year. Hope you like these as well.

You've got a great touch, John. Keep going. It makes people happy. Saw a lot of cattle egrets in FL, and Anhinga. Go find those Ivory Bills!

Thanks for the comments, normally I paint birds that I see along the rivers while fishing up near the Arctic (Iceland). Here are some examples these were done a few years back and hang in my family rm.
