hello from England

#1

Post by Becksandbrowntrout »

I have been a member on here for a while. but never really introduced myself properly. I live in Yorkshire in England , I fish many of the streams where traditional spiders ( soft hackles ) were developed . I have fly fished for 50 years now and am pretty passionate about it . I mainly fish smaller streams locally but also fish the Yorkshire dales rivers like the Ure which is a large freestone affair. I will confess I fish with carbon but over the years I have a growing love affair with cane . Started by the purchase of a South Bend 290 a few years back which rather surprised me Since then I have gathered together rods by some other American builders and Chapmans in the UK. Anyway I promise not to make a nuisance of myself .

Welcome!
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

Welcome!

I'm Canadian, but my very first fly fishing experience was as a 14 yr old on the Rye River at Nunnington.

A great memory!
