#2Jimmy Smith and Thomas Armstrong made special reels for Nobility, who was, B H?
Re: hardy monogram 31/2" fly reel
#3I believe that is the Hardy Brothers trademark for Australia and New Zealand.
Kev, cool reel. I don't know much about it, but if you flip the second pawl (lower one in your fifth picture) around so it doesn't engage the spool, the reel will sound and perform better.
Re: hardy monogram 31/2" fly reel
#5A reel from around 1951 made for Australia and new Zeeland, some problems with a high import-tax was a reason for the making of these reels I think. Known in three sizes 3”,31/4” and as above 31/2. Some reels has the text monogram others not, some has an Agate line-guide others not. The monogram HBA stands for Hardy Brothers Alnwick. I have a reel made for Abercrombie in NY so not all of these rare Hardy reels went to A and NZ. The 31/4" Hardy Monogram below was made by Hardy reel maker JS= Jimmy Smith at Hardys between 1908 to 196?.

#7No they are rare Hardy reels made for a very short time. One of the small gems in Hardy- collecting I think. The stampning HBA on your reel i very good , not often seen so good.

#8that's very good to know thank you , I've only ever saw 2 more apart from my own and your lovely one too . probably not the most valuable of reels but their rarity makes up for it .thank you. regards Kevin.
