My "Frankenstein" rod in action

#1

Post by jan96 »

I fished the river Idrijca with my 6-piece "Frankenstein" rod. Fish were not active on the surface so I tried my chances with nymphs and streamers....

Very nice hen Jan, but wow!
It took me a while to wrap my head around your rods configuration, bamboo ferrules and all??? It appears that a nine inch section extends the butt of a 5pc rod. The omission of that section results in a shorter 4pc. rod??? To many questions. Tell us more.

Very interesting experiment. Would love to have a cast of it to see how the bamboo ferrules have influenced the action and the weightiness of the rod.

Thanks Adamsdry :) Rod is 7'6'' with five sections. With an additional section between "butt" and second section becomes 8'3''.

I don't know how much would the same rod with metal ferrules weigh, probably much more.... Here is the weight as a five piece and as six piece.

Sorry, I don't understand what did you mean...."will this rod have a bride"? If it will it will be even uglier than "Frankenstein" and probably composed of more different pieces of bamboo! ;)

And Jan, with four metal ferrules there would be a significant and cumbersome impact on the action of the rod. Metal ferrules are fine with two piece rods. Beyond that, innovators such as yourself have much to contribute.

The bride from the movie is too beautiful for Mr.F!! I think this one would be more appropriate.... ;)

BLAM! That looks like my Telecaster!
I think The Bride Of Frankenstein would be the film referred to, and also a highly sought after bamboo sequel, after those fat trouts. My goodness.
108-125g = 3.8 to 4 point whatever oz. It really doesn't matter.
The rod is genius. Thanks for sharing!

..this is another weird rod I made - "Onepiece" 7'2''#4(made in 2012). It has a wonderful action but a bit difficult to transport with our (small) cars. I got the photos from a friend who fished it past week...

This past Sunday I fished a small stream here in Slovenia in company of one of my fishing friends. I used my trusty "Frankestein", he used my "Midge" "clone". We didn't catch many fish but those we manage to land were all wild small to medium size "marmorata" trout and hybrids(Marmorata/Brown trout) :)

Gorgeous waters! Please enjoy and protect them!
And keep the photos coming! I am in awe of the fish you are bringing to net. Absolutely stunning.
