#1I was wondering if there was a approximate date when John Landman stopped using loose ring guides or did the stores who had their name on the rod decide the components thanks for your thoughts.

#2I'm unaware of any way to put a year date on early rods. The question is a common one for most rod makers, and is as vexing as asking when a maker switched from Calcutta to Tonkin.
A guess would be sometime between 1910-1920 for the change from ring guides to snakes, but without catalogs or a year date inscribed on rods, it's really anybody's guess. So, that's what I gave you.

#3I always thought the crossover date was 1890 to 1900, but that’s just another opinion…

#4The reason I ask is the two Landmans I have are from Von Lengerke and Detmold and Von Lengerke and Antone ,the first rod has lose ring guides, unknown date of manufacture the second has a date of 1891 on it with snake guides,mabey this will be of help thanks for the info much appreciated
