Re: Face plate hole patterns
#30I'm partial to Young's Beaudex reels. Looking at them now I realize it's the texture in combination with the hole pattern that's appealing. But that 60's era alternating hole size is kinda trippy. The Bristol 65 has a not-quite-completey-Moorish hole pattern that's nice. I should give that reel more play. To date, it's used as an intermediary for swapping lines from one reel to another. Off reel X and onto the Bristol, off the Bristol and onto reel Z...

#37Although not as old as some posted, here is the hole pattern on a Hardy Cascapedia Mk 2 Reel.,
Re: Face plate hole patterns
#38Two 4" Silex Majors. On the left, inside drum and back stamped 'H' for Hiduminium. Rear stamping would say a 1930's reel, however shorter foot plus riveted handles and without jewelled bearing, point to a later date when it was assembled. On the right leaded 1930's throughout.
Nicely drilled and finished perforated drums.
