Hi all,
Looking for the best books on identifying the most significant Pennsylvania species of mayflies, caddis, midges and stoneflies. Hopefully something that can be carried streamside and has suggested fly patterns as well.
Thank you,
PAGH

#2This one fits your criteria and is a pretty decent pocket guide. other books by Charlie Meck are good too

#4I've always liked Charlie's book from 1977, but it is not a pocket guide. can be found on bookfinder etc for 15 bucks

#5The Meck/Weamer PA Pocket Guide above is probably your best choice. Paul Weamer did a companion book for New York a few years later. Both are very handy and nicely done. The two were very close friends.
Charlie's book on PA trout streams and their hatches is somewhat dated by now, but describes the streams and the hatches found there. He fished with local anglers who were willing to share their experience on their home waters in m any cases. Charlie was a very kind gentleman and he is missed!

#6Might want to consider A Hatch Guide for New England Streams by Ames. Definitely a pocket guide and should cover 90+% of all hatches you’ll find in PA. Be prepared however it is pricey but it’s a better reference than most others I’ve seen.
