Any ideas who made this 7 1/2’ 2/2 piece?

This is the board to ask about the identity, or for an appraisal, of a rod. Please use the outline as explained on the board. If there is a makers name, list that in the subject line. Make sure you include the length, number of sections, any identifying markings and the general condition. Adding photographs is always helpful!

Any ideas who made this 7 1/2’ 2/2 piece?

This is another rod I just bought yesterday. Might be an Arend made rod but not sure. It’s 7 1/2’ long with 2 tips and all sections the same length. No markings anywhere as I understand from the seller.
Thanks for any help 🤓

I’ll be keeping this sweet little rod! We are going to the MethowValley here in the Cascades in a week and up the East Chewuch river road, over Freeze Over Pass and hiking down to Tiffany lake. IF it arrives in time, doubtful though.
I’ve caught many Eastern Brook Trout there!

Here’s an Orvis spinning kit rod

That’s what I was thinking because of the reel seat and ferrules

That's a Japanese made rod. I have one just like it.

Can you sent me some pictures of your Japanese built rod?
The reel seat and female and male ferrules?
Thanks

1950/1960's Premier. Imported from Japan and sold through various dealers. Some had a decal and some didn't.

I had one that was a single tip 8' and it had a "gold" aluminum seat and the word Premier in a plain black diamond. I stripped it and added new guides and believe it or not, it was a decent rod to fish and it was on the fast side action wise.

I need more convincing that this is a Japanese rod from that era. Reed-McGill reel seat and quality looking ferrules??? Please show us a photo of one that is stamped from Japan.

Very possibily a "Pepper" rod built by the Pepper Rod Co. of Rome NY. They used that seat along with Orvis.
Doubtful it's Japanese with those ferrules. IMHO

No sure yet, the seller hopefully will ship it today. I am doubting it’s a Japanese rod because of the reel seat and the ferrules but I certainly could be wrong

How can it be said that it's a "sweet little rod" if it hasn't been in hand and cast?
It's certainly a bit confounding and I hope it turns out to be a good fishing stick!

post image is a joke. My rod has plated ferrules. Red wraps but the same grip and reel seat. Golden Compac.

Yes I do agree this most likely is a Golden Compac Japanese rod. One tip is not original to the set and has resorcinol place glue lines and is slightly a finer taper. I am impressed with the ferrules on the rod though, really good quality from other Japanese rods I've seen. The ferrules are not plated on this rod.

I wonder if the original ferrules could have been replaced?

Not sure. From the looks of the wraps, they may be original to the rod but hard to tell since the two tips don't quite match either.
