Fishing Thoughts on my 70th
#1I'm grateful today on my 70th birthday. And one of the sources of it is to be a fly fishing trout angler. It's been over 30 years since I took to the sport. And the passion has never waned. I've had a lot of good and bad luck along the way. But I've never missed a season of fishing since the year I began. I got a fly rod (here in the land of 10,000 Lakes) because I couldn't afford a boat. Anytime someone mentions that fly fishing gear is too expensive, I always ask how much he paid for his boat. Then I discovered the rivers in West Wisconsin and the Driftless. I learned to tie flies, another passion. The world can often become burdensome. But having this fishing endeavor offers one of the finest methods for looking forward to the next season. As long as I"m fishing, things'll be okay. And for that I am grateful.

#10I’m the same age also, keep going strong. I got to fish the Driftless this spring and it was amazing; you’re lucky to have that area nearby!

Fishing Thoughts on my 70th
#12Fishing thoughts on my upcoming 84th birthday in August. Arthritis has taken away my ability to wade. Shoulder complications have taken away my ability to cast, Essential tremor has taken away my ability to tie flies. Yet I still have my memories of Chile, Alaska, Yellowstone, the Big Hole, the Beaverhead, Tim Pond, and all those streams in my beloved MIchigan, and hundreds of pics. As Wordsworth said, emotion recollected in tranquility. Happy birthday!
