Fished the Leonard pre 1908 #39 last night. It reminded me of another rod but I am not sure which one. So I went upstairs today and grabbed a handful of rods and reels and decided to see which one it was.
These rods are all 8’ 4/5 wts. So far they are all a bit brisker than the smooth slow 39.
It’s possible the Leonard reminded me of a lighter 8.5’ FE Thomas from the turn of the last century.

It is very nice. Smooth. Last year I fished it with a silk 4 wt and it was great on some small streams around my county. This year I picked up a Zen 3 wt and it works well too.
I was a little nervous with some of the fish I had on for the rod this year but no harm done.
