Donation to keep the site up and running...
Donation to keep the site up and running...
#1Should spend additional time with housework etc. but seem to spend many more hours on the forum. Did a quick search about donations but didn’t see anything. There must be $ associated with hosting etc? Have sent donations to other sites from time to time in the early days of the WWW and feel I should do something here to defray costs. How can I help?
Thanks!

#2The Forum is owned by Dr Todd Larson. He funds the upkeep as part of his business, so anything like that would have to go through him.

#3I really appreciate the sentiment.
I have paid for the running of this Forum out of pocket (including the moving of the forum) for well over a decade. It is getting quite expensive to run for sure. I am thinking about putting a fundraiser book out for the Forum, the Bamboo Fly Rod Vade Mecum, which has been gestating a long time. It would be available to people who donate to the upkeep of the Forum.
I'll keep people updated on this. But thanks for thinking of the Forum.

#4I think many members would be happy to donate to keep this forum going without a fundraiser book. Other forums I belong to have a simple way for members to contribute, either as a one shot when able with no set amount or on an ongoing monthly basis with a set amount.

#5A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, I donated some buck$ to this forum. IIRC, there was an outpouring of $. I'd be happy to contribute again.

#6I remember that, too, Dale, and like you, I'd be more than happy to "help" again.

#7I'd donate as well. This is the main thing that I look at on the internet these days.

#11This is the first and last place I go on the internet every day. I’d be more than happy to contribute to its continued life.

#12Active forums such as this are becoming a thing of the past...which is sad because I get a lot of value from the exchange of information and ideas presented here. I would happily donate.

#13It would be very easy just to put a PayPal button on the home page.

#14It's always easy if you're not the one that has to implement it, isn't it?kevinhaney1 wrote: ↑08/18/22 08:29It would be very easy just to put a PayPal button on the home page.
Unfortunately, there's no available plugin or extension that currently works with phpBB forums with a version number greater than v3.1. We're currently at v3.3.x.

#16I'd be happy to send a check once a year, similar to a magazine subscription. The talent of the members and inspiration I get from this forum are priceless.

#18I believe that Mark is underpaid. I also believe that, in the past, there was a donation set up for Administrator "appreciation." I don't mean to start a wildfire, but I wouldn't mind donating to that.Titelines wrote: ↑08/18/22 10:25It's always easy if you're not the one that has to implement it, isn't it?kevinhaney1 wrote: ↑08/18/22 08:29It would be very easy just to put a PayPal button on the home page.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, but that isn't necessary. This is pretty much a labor of love for me. If I got paid for it it would feel like a job.
