Are you left or right handed ?
#160 day POLL - Are you left or right handed ?
Follow up question - Do you wind with your left or right hand ?

Being a left handed guy myself - I cast left and reel right handed.

#4I am right handed, and reel with my left hand.
Years back I decided to learn how to cast with my left hand, and that saved a season a few years ago when I wrecked my right shoulder.
I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous!

#6I'm right handed and reel with the left. It's kept me from owning a few classic RHW Hardy reels, but switching the rod to the left hand to wind is awkward at best.

Re: Are you left or right handed ?
#7Right handed, reel right handed. It's only right! I've always done it that way because that's how we did it.
Switching the rod to the left hand takes a millisecond and I'm not even aware of doing it, it just happens.

#9I'm right handed and I reel right handed. Only because I started that way as a kid.
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

#11Cast right, reel right. My right hand is faster and definitely brighter than my left
Re: Are you left or right handed ?
#12I feel really stupid because I answered the poll incorrectly. I thought you meant with what hand I reel.... Anyway, Right handed and reel with my left. Thanks

#13Right-handed, cast right*, reel right.
*With one-handed rods. But with two-handed rods I cast left hand up.

Re: Are you left or right handed ?
#16I was born in the 60's and learned to fish with a spinning rod casting with my right hand and reeling with my left. This continued until 2017 when I took up fly fishing. I tried winding with my right hand, but like Greg, found it awkward. I only wind with my left hand.

Joe

In our family there was no clear line between psychotherapy and flyfishing...
Re: Are you left or right handed ?
#18I'm left-handed and learned to fish with my grandmother's old Bronson one-piece casting rod crappie pole (Bronson 63 ??) that was converted to "cast left-handed/reel right-handed". That preference stuck when I picked up fly fishing years later.

#20Right handed but will reel with either, depending on the reel.
But I always reel with my left hand when it comes to spinning.
