Fly rod identification

This is the board to ask about the identity, or for an appraisal, of a rod. Please use the outline as explained on the board. If there is a makers name, list that in the subject line. Make sure you include the length, number of sections, any identifying markings and the general condition. Adding photographs is always helpful!

Fly rod identification

#1

Post by Flyguy24 »

I am new to bamboo collecting and fishing. I think I have a Horrocks-Ibbotson rod here but I’m not sure. I have not seen this logo on any of their rods. It says it’s a Columbia. Does anyone know the year of this rod. I have seen the post of the catalog but can’t see the logo to determine the actual year. Thanks in advance.

Apparently I have a very rare one of a kind rod here. Guess I got lucky with that $10 garage sale find.

No, it's not one of a kind. I've seen several Columbia models. You rod was made from the mid-1920's to about 1930 or so.
