Line weight for Hardy Deluxe Salmon

#1

Post by kakaryan »

So I am looking at a 9'6" 7wt Hardy Deluxe Salmon. I would like to know if it is true to 7wt of today plastic lines? Or better a 8wt or 6wt rod?

Haven't tried any Hardy rods yet. I have another English rod, a 10ft 6/7wt Sharpes Aberdeen, which turns out to be more like a 7/8wt to me....It feels stronger than my Leonard model no. 86 SDF (9', stated 7/8wt rod, more like a 7)

I hope the Hardy would be lighter power than the Sharpe, more like a 7wt or even 6wt. If not, I'd pass.

If I am looking for a 9'6" 6wt, shall I be better look at others like Granger?

Thanks.
