Blanchards Auction reel box MIA

#1

Post by Bill Charles »

I won lot 380, the Hardy Sunbeam with its original box. Received my parcel yesterday which contained the reel, but no box.

If by some chance someone has received their items and found an unexpected 3" Sunbeam box please send me a message.

Unfortunately my contact with Blanchards has not been satisfactory....."The reel was shipped in its box"

What I bought....and what I got.

Not cool

What an unfortunate mixup - and one I hope gets resolved quickly!

As a man after boxes myself - I would be vexed as well.

If you happened to pay via PayPal, file a dispute. In my experience they will definitely get Blanchard's attention.

I'm going to reach out one final time to Blanchards and see if they located the box on their premises. Frankly I doubt they've even bothered to look.

If they continue to show a lack of concern I'll contact my CC for a partial chargeback. Blanchards does not accept Paypal.

The next question is how much value is added to the lot by having the reel box included, as that is what I would be requesting as a chargeback amount.

I would ask for 1/2 of price of the lot.

Look at eBay for sold prices on similar boxes. IMHO, 1/2 isn't justified.

Good idea. I'll have a look at completed listings.

Edit: so what I'm seeing on completed listings is that ~30% is fair and reasonable.

Thanks for the contact info.

I've been emailing back and forth with Sue Blanchard. I think I'll see if she resolves it first.

Watching with interest and hope for you Bill, the lot is the lot. I hope for your sake and your heart it pops up and there is no need for this to be “settled amicably”.

I have unfortunately been in a similar situation a few times and I know for the historical sense I wanted “the lot” and was heart broken truly that others were so callus in handling the other important features that made these special finds valued at least to me at what I paid for them. In all of my events the other parties cared less about the misplaced items. I hope that is not the same here. Fingers crossed!

While the reel box has not been located, I am pleased to report that the situation has been resolved to our mutual satisfaction.
