Forum member Drew Spanogle has passed
#1I just learned that long time forum member Drew Spanogle (tedgolden) passed away on November 8. He was one of the early members going back to Clark's board and a frequent contributor until a few years ago. Rest in peace Drew.

#3I never met Drew, but I have read most of his posts and probably owe my small collection of Orvis Seven-Four rods to his praise for the taper. My thoughts go out to his wife Mary and his family and close acquaintances. RIP "tedgolden"

#5Very sad. Some of my first dealings on this board were with Drew, some 20 years ago. He had a great wit and was very helpful.

#6Very sad too hear the news.
I never met him, but several years ago he had messaged me with the possibility of coming to Italy. The trip didn't happen, but we had a great series of exchanges, a real gentleman.
Rest in peace, Drew, and deepest condolences to his loved ones.

#8Drew was my first client as a fly fishing guide on Lake Taneycomo over 25 years ago.
RIP tedgolden
" He sat at the typewriter for hours as the editor of the Ozark Fly Fishers newsletter, writing with humor-tinged élan under the moniker
“Ted Golden”, which was a play on the name of a famous fly fishing writer, Theodore Gordon. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that both of his children went on to work for Feather-Craft Fly Fishing. "

#10Drew was one of the forum members who've helped me with the database over the years. Among other things, he gifted me a number of older Orvis catalogs. He also sold me a 7-foot Superfine, which is all the more special to me because of his ownership.

#12Another sad day for the bamboo forum, my condolences to the family. I bought a couple of rods from Drew years ago and met up and fished with him one time when he made a trip out to my home state of Oregon. Always enjoyed his posts. He will be missed.

#13I met Drew over something one of us was selling on ebay twenty some years ago. He actually introduced me to Clark's forum. Had many good conversations and dealings with him over the years. Very sad to hear this.

#14I always enjoyed Drew’s postings from the Ought years in my previous life on the old forum up to when he stopped posting a while back. All of my interactions with him were purely forum related and in group conversations, but I still cherish them non the less. Tight lines Sir!

#17It’s guys like Drew that are the true personality of our sport, not the self aggrandizing blowhards we see pontificating at shows.
RIP, Drew. You will be missed.
