What is "No. 2 Action" on 9'7" English Bamboo
#1Hi - I have a vintage Edgar Sealy Octopus Split Bamboo 2 piece rod that is 9' 7" and it has a decal that says "No. 2 Action". Does anyone know what that is equivalent to in modern terminology? Thanks, Dave

#4Seriously though it very likely refers to either a dry or wet fly action.

#5If it is like Hardy it probably means "power". The AHE Wood rod used to have no.1, 2, and 3. ie. Light, medium and heavy power.

#6Hardy sometimes used No 1, 2, 3, to denote the level of finish, as the English gun trade used to do, i.e. No.1 being the highest might have nickel silver ferrules, etc.
