One more member from Finland

Post by KaukoP »

Hi Everyone,

I realised I've not introduced myself. My name is Kauko, I'm retired and live in Pori, Finland.
I started building bamboo rods in 2015, and have built just one every winter season. Typically I fish them in Lappland, on backpacking trips. I hope I can keep that up a few years, still. I'll be 70 this year, so...

Welcome from the Catskills, NY, USA. I have seen a couple of videos done by anglers camping and fishing in Lapland and it looks like a beautiful area with fine fishing!

Welcome Kauko. I would love to see photos of your rods and your backpacking trips!

Great to have another rod builder here. Looking forward to seeing your rods at some point in the future.

Well, somebody asked for it. This pic was taken by my wife on our trip in early June last year. She's quite experienced fly fishing watcher.
I'll try to take some reasonably good ones of some of my rods.

I am 68 and still haven't retired yet, so am hoping that backpacking/fishing is in my future. So far(fingers crossed) I have managed to keep myself in good shape. I recently took up trail running, and although I'm very slow, it should keep me agile enough to keep up the outdoor activities for a while. Thanks for the inspiration Kauko. Keep going! Stay young.
