Straight tiptops.

This board is for discussing concerns of fishing bamboo fly rods. Examples would be, lines, actions, classic and modern makers actions and the like.

Straight tiptops.

I have what I believe is a scruffy Montague trade rod. 9’ 6” 3/2

Both tiptops are straight / horizontal. This will obviously kink the line at the rod tip.

Would it have been fished like this? There is no sign that they have ever been angled and then straightened.

Thanks; I will post more in the Montague section later, but am initially stumped by the tiptops!
